DVS Shoe Company, the Southern California lifestyle footwear brand, known for its 20+year history in action sports, is happy to announce Kerry Getz as their Global Skate Team Manager. Kerry has a long history with the DVS brand, he was a high profile, top tier pro for many years. Kerry had many accomplishments while skating for DVS, his first pro model shoe, The Getz 1, came out in early 2001 just before he won X-Games Gold, as well as, his iconic part in the 2005 release of “Skate More”, the brands full length video that featured amazing parts from fellow team riders Daewon Song and Chico Brenes, both of who still ride for DVS to this day. The news of his new role with the brand comes partnered with the release of two heritage Kerry Getz color ways in the DVS Spring 2016 range that just hit retail shelves across the world.
“Having Kerry come aboard to head up our skate team marketing is very exciting, not only for us as employees, but for our roster of global skate athletes and all of our partners around the world” said Jim Shubin, Director of Marketing for DVS. “Mine and Kerry’s paths have crossed many times over the years, so to have him come on full time and share his passion for skateboarding and the DVS brand is just great, working with a guy of his caliber is going to be amazing as we tackle the ever changing landscape of skateboarding” added Shubin.
Kerry still skates daily and is also Co-Owner of Nocturnal Skate shop in Philadelphia. He’s a proud husband and father to four great kids.
“I never could have imagined the impact my first DVS pro shoe would have on the industry and an even bigger impact on my life. I’m just so happy to be back working as part of the DVS brand team again in this capacity, I’m just really excited to get started right away, we have a lot of great ideas ready to go” said Getz. “I had already been working with the design team as we are gearing up to re-release a modern version of my original shoe next fall, so through all the collaboration, this opportunity came up to manage the global skate team and everything just fell into place, a lot of exciting things coming from DVS in the near future” added Getz.
