Eric Jackson Joins SPY’s Snow Team

Eric Jackson drops in with SPY's Happy Lens.

Published: February 15, 2017 Press Release

The hard charging backcountry freestyle rider known as Eric Jackson—aka E-Jack—has officially started seeing happy as the latest member of SPY’s growing snow team. A well-respected rider with a plethora of video awards under his belt and an aggressive, confident style all his own, E-Jack will continue to lead progressive backcountry freestyle with a smile—and Happy Lens™ snow goggles—on his face.

After recently coming off of two injury plagued seasons that would cause almost any pro to hang it up, E-Jack returned to snowboarding with a renewed work ethic and positive mental focus that has paid significant dividends. In addition to his mind blowing parts in “The Fourth Phase” and “Good Look,” E-Jack has received a handful of major accolades, including Men’s Video Part Of The Year in TransWorld Snowboarding’s Riders Poll, bronze at the X-Games Real Snow Backcountry event, and a spot on SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s Top Ten Riders of the Year list in 2017. E-Jack’s accolades seem to be growing almost as fast as his beard.

“I’m hyped to be a part of what SPY has going on right now. These guys are pushing the best tech and design for charging on the snow and chilling when the boots come off. From the quick-change system on the Doom to the all-terrain awesomeness of the new Hunt sunglasses, I couldn’t be more stoked to have the Happy Lens as a part of my daily kit,” says E-Jack.

“We’re happy to welcome E-Jack to the SPY program,” adds Andrew Thomas, SPY Snow Marketing Manager. “His personality truly reflects his riding and is a great fit for the brand— fun, bold, confident and uniquely creative. Working with Eric is a good time, and I’m excited for him to See Happy in his snow goggles, fishing sunglasses and even his prescription frames.”

E-Jack’s technical prowess goes well beyond his creative lines on the mountain. When his feet aren’t strapped into his bindings, he can often be found with his banjo hanging around his neck, which many had the opportunity to hear during his recent X-Games Real Snow part. E-Jack’s love for the outdoors doesn’t end when the snow melts, as shown via his Instagram feed, featuring almost as many shots of him with a line in the water as shots of his board in the pow.

E-Jack joins a growing crew of notable snowboarders and skiers to back the Happy Lens on snow, including Chris Rasman, Helen Schettini, Mike Gray, Phil Casabon, Ahmet Dadali and Wiley Miller.

About SPY:

SPY is an unconventional, fun-loving family of athletes and artists committed to creating exceptional optical products. Established in 1994, we are an independent Southern California-based company. We design products—sunglasses, goggles, and prescription frames—that take style cues from the outdoor sports community we’re engrained in, as well as the lifestyle that surrounds it. Our exclusive Happy Lens technology is the only lens on the market which harnesses the beneficial aspects of long-wave blue light, while offering protection from short-wave blue light known to damage the eyes. The Happy Lens name comes from independent studies which have shown that long-wave blue light can positively affect a person’s mood and alertness. To learn more about SPY, go to www.spyoptic.com.
