CJ Nelson has partnered with Australian Shaper Ian “Chissa” Chisholm to bring back the popular CJ Classic model, plus new designs released this month in the U.S.
Chissa has been hand shaping and building traditional boards in Torquay, Australia under his South Coast Surfboards (Australia) logo since 1995. CJ and Chissa have been collaborating for the past 18 months to develop and perfect this new line of hand-crafted surfboards which include classic noseriders as well as performance longboards and fun shapes. “I have ridden these boards in all kinds of waves and conditions, and they are without question the most refined and best riding boards I have ever owned,” says CJ.
“The open mind is a free mind,” said CJ, “The freedom of thought and clarity that I now enjoy has allowed me to become exposed to even more options in my surfing life. Working with Chissa, I have reinvented my personal quiver of boards from the ground up with these new epoxy matrix boards at the core.”
Multiple layers of hand laminations and advanced materials translate to exceptional strength and durability far beyond traditional layups, while multi-component stringer systems control flex and twist characteristics that are tuned for each model.
