The ninth annual Spyder Surf Fest will showcase the action sports industry’s most celebrated athletes, brands, fashion, music and more on Saturday, April 23 at Pier Plaza in Hermosa Beach. From 10 a.m.–6 p.m., the family festival will highlight the hottest beach lifestyle apparel with a fashion show, interactive booths, meet and greets with the industry’s finest athletes and influencers, and offer free giveways and prizes. Past notable surfers who have previously attended Surf Fest have include the legendary Tom Curren, Mark Occhilupo, Dane Reynolds, CJ Hobgood, Donovan Frankenreiter and many others.
This year, Surf Fest will debut the “South Bay Quiksilver Triple Crown of Retro Surfing,” the first of three events Spyder Surf and Quiksilver will partner on between now through Summer 2016. Scheduled to kick off at 7 a.m.on the south side of Hermosa Pier, this 80s-centric contest will feature surfers competing with equipment solely manufactured in the 80s.
The overall winner of the three events will be crowned on August 20, 2016 during the annual Weekend of Surf when the newest members of the “Surfer’s Walk of Fame” are inducted.

The top names in the surf, skate and action sports industry joins us for this day to help inspire and stoke out the next generation of youth, “said Dennis Jarvis, founder, Spyder Surf. “Spyder Surf Fest is not just about keeping action sports alive in Hermosa alone, but an extremely important reminder of how much our town has contributed to the sport – it truly is one of the original birthplaces of surfing in the USA.”
Pier Plaza will also amplify the sounds of musical acts Kevin Sousa, Jeremy Buck, Electric Parlor, 80’s retro band M80’s, and 14-year-old, singer songwriter Jamisen Jarvis throughout the day. Joining the musical acts on center stage will be the annual Action Sports Lifestyle Fashion, featuring the latest and upcoming trends of beach culture.
Starting at 6 p.m., Surf Fest will continue the festivities with its long-time, official after-party tradition at Watermans Safehouse restaurant in Pier Plaza.
The ninth annual Spyder Surf Fest include returning and presenting sponsor Kinecta Credit Union, as well as Monster Energy and Electric sunglasses. Participating brands include Sanuk, SPY, Quiksilver, Billabong, Hurley, Volcom, Vissla and more. National and South Bay-based non-profit Surfrider.
