Published: May 5, 2017 Press Release

On Saturday, April 8, Nixon launched its latest, limited edition collection of watches featuring the Bones Brigade team graphics with an early product release with Active Ride Shop at the Irvine Spectrum.

More than 600 people lined up to meet legendary team members Tony Hawk, Tommy Guerrero, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, and Rodney Mullen. The meet and greet took place in a gallery space curated by photographer J. Grant Brittain, featuring some of his own work alongside artifacts from the era that told the backstory of each skater’s individual board graphics, all designed by artist Vernon Courtlandt.

Powell-Peralta creative cohort Craig Stecyk III was also in attendance, as well as Paul Schmitt, Dan Rogers, Hagop Najarian, John Lucero, Rick “Spidey” DeMontrand, Joe Hammeke, Tony Acosta, Alphonzo Rawls, and Rick Jaramillo.

More than 100 watches and 2 box sets (featuring all six of the limited edition Time Tellers in a collector’s box signed by the Bones Brigade team) were sold at Active throughout the night. Active also sold out of inventory of Powell-Peralta boards featuring the team graphics, making the night the busiest for the Spectrum location since Christmas 2016. Each purchase of the Nixon x Bones Brigade watches came with a limited edition ‘zine with original team interviews and insights on the board graphics.

The Nixon x Bones Brigade Limited Edition Collection and ‘zine are available exclusively at skate shops and Nixon retail stores. You can find the full list of retailers here.

If you missed Saturday’s event at Active, you can check out a take down of the J. Grant Brittain art show at SAID Space in Encinitas from 6-10pm. Said Space is located at 766 South Coast HWY 101.
