RVCA has teamed up with longtime collaborator Mark Oblow to offer a limited-edition capsule of custom screen printed apparel and accessories.

As a mixed media artist, Oblow’s process encompasses a form of collage utilizing mediums of photography, paint, printing, and drawing. The resulting capsule is a reinterpreted version of these works both appearing as single image screen prints or batik block prints across cotton poplin shirts, tees, trunks, and a bucket hat.

In celebration of the RVCA x Mark Oblow collection launch, Ron Robinson will host an event at their Santa Monica, CA flagship store on Thursday, July 27th where guests will have the chance to view some of the artist’s recent work. In addition, Mark will be on hand for a meet and greet and will block screen print a set of exclusive tees that will only be available at Ron Robinson.

About Mark Oblow

Born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii, Mark Oblow’s illustrious and creative career started as a sponsored surfer at a young age. Turning full-steam towards his true passion for skateboarding at 12 years old, Oblow rode for prominent brands, Vision Skateboards, Independent Trucks and Jimmy-z. Then relocating to California in 1990, he became an integral and influential leader within the industry. His ability to develop, inspire and manage people is successfully embedded into the history of key brands that have shaped youth culture.

In addition to his influence over the past 20+ years helping to define the identity of what we call skateboarding today, his photography career, not surprisingly, involved working with the likes of David Beckham, Snoop Dog, Ozzy Osbourne to Katy Perry. His first photo ads were in Thrasher magazine via Alva and Santa Cruz Skateboards when he was in the 9th grade. Over the years, Oblow has been featured in countless publications and periodicals for his design, artwork and his photography including books by Tom Adler, David Carson to GQ magazine and What Youth.

A culmination of his life experiences within photography and art, Oblow captures, cuts, paints and immortalizes his subjects within his growing journal entries, mural installations, block prints and canvases, all barreling towards what is identified as a true artist. He is endorsed by the Impossible Project, Stance Socks and the Speed Merchant. Mark Oblow’s solo works have shown in California, Brazil and Japan with group shows in Antwerp and Tokyo. “MOBLOW” is his namesake DIY lifestyle brand was released in 2015.

About Ron Robinson

In 1978, Ron Robinson, Inc. opened its doors at Fred Segal on Melrose Avenue, and has grown exponentially ever since. Having worked directly for Fred Segal as a salesman, buyer and then Vice President for nearly a decade prior, Robinson found it to be the perfect time to take his knowledge and expertise and build on the traditions he had learned, as well as make some of his own. Since then, his stores have continually changed the face of shopping and fashion!

Today, Ron Robinson boutiques are located on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles as part of the Fred Segal center, and on Fifth Street in Santa Monica as the Flagship location. In the late 70’s, Robinson started with a men’s casual sportswear store grew to offer a variety of hard-to-find labels spanning from local L.A. designers to unique Japanese and international brands. Five years later he expanded with a beauty boutique that he named APOTHIA (a blend of the words “apothecary” and “utopia”) and a children’s store named LIFESIZE. Robinson’s desire to cultivate a shopping experience with key lifestyle and design items – the fashion you live with – created StylObjects.
