RVCA X Birdwell Beach Britches Partner on Capsule Collection

The collection marries Birdwell’s technique of sewing difficult fabric into durable product and RVCA’s artistic creative approach.

Published: April 4, 2016 Press Release

Iconic surf brand, Birdwell Beach Britches, and global lifestyle fashion and accessory brand, RVCA, have joined forces to create a capsule surf collection for Spring 2016.

Both brands take tremendous pride in their work and are staples in the local Southern California surf community, so it was a no brainer that these two would collaborate. The collection, which is entirely made in the U.S., marries Birdwell’s technique of sewing difficult fabric into durable product and RVCA’s artistic creative approach.

“Our collaboration with Birdwell has been a dream of mine for 15 years. I envisioned the collaboration shortly after founding RVCA 15 years ago when I first visited the Birdwell factory in Santa Ana,” said RVCA Founder, Pat Tenore. “Everything about Birdwell has always been appealing to me, from the origin of the company in Carrie Birdwell Mann’s living room, to the timeless heritage of Birdwell’s original 2 ply beach britches, which in my opinion are on the same level of what 501’s are to jeans and America. It’s special to work with a generational company known for quality driven and timeless product. We are excited to share RVCA’s platform, artists and advocates as a perfect fit and balance to Birdwell’s deep routed culture.”

Available on RVCA.com beginning April 4th, the collection consists of surf essentials including boardshorts, jackets, surf totes, tees as well as a signature hat and beach towel. Each piece echoes the heritage of both brands and keeps to the essence of the product. RVCA surf advocates, Alex Knost, Ford Archibold and Ellis Ericson are featured in the campaign.

“We were excited to work with RVCA because of their longstanding commitment to art and creativity. We have been making the same classic surf gear for decades and we were curious to see RVCA’s take on the product,” said Natas Kaupas, Creative Director of Birdwell Beach Britches. “We’ve been in business for the past 55 years, so it was about time to link up with the RVCA crew, especially since we’re neighbors just down he 55 freeway in Newport Beach, CA,” Kaupas further explained.

About RVCA

RVCA is the brainchild of company Founder and President, PM Tenore. Transcending the boundaries of traditional action sports apparel, RVCA is a design-driven lifestyle brand free from passing trends.

Established to promote the genuine integrity of RVCA’s subcultures while simultaneously giving back to the community, RVCA in essence is redefining the way the market views art and fashion as represented through the balance of opposites and how they coexist: water, oil; air, land; destruction, industrialization; art, science; foreign, domestic; order, chaos; past, present. For RVCA, it is about today, tomorrow and life as the big picture. It is about inspiring our generation, providing something of substance and culture and above all doing it with integrity and as a united family, a close-knit community. www.rvca.com
