SCOTT Sports S.A., a global multi sports brand based in Givisiez, Switzerland, and Tecnica Group S.p.A, a leading sports footwear and equipment company based in Giavera del Montello, Italy have signed a preliminary agreement for the takeover of Tecnica Group’s Dolomite division.
Italian outdoor company Dolomite was first established as a mountaineering footwear brand in 1897. After acquiring the brand in 1998, Tecnica Group repositioned Dolomite in the Italian-style functional sportswear segment and succeeded in ensuring the brand’s constant growth. Over the past five financial years, Dolomite has multiplied its revenues and stores, ultimately reaching the €18m forecast for 2015 (of which over 60% generated abroad) through a network of more than 1,500 clients.
The operation falls within SCOTT´s strategy of developing long-established brands with a strong international reputation. The Dolomite takeover is an investment in the brand’s great potential and a sign of recognition of the Montebelluna cluster’s know-how and professional competence. The acquisition of Dolomite expands SCOTT`s footwear expertise.
“I’m very happy to carry through this operation, thanks to the help of Alberto and Giancarlo Zanatta who believed in SCOTT Sports and its ability to further develop the Dolomite brand worldwide while safeguarding the latter’s identity and origins. SCOTT Sports rises to this challenge with great enthusiasm and we’re convinced we have all the conditions for success,” said Beat Zaugg, CEO of SCOTT Sports.
