Earlier today, SnowSports Industries America, the snow sports industry’s member-owned trade association, released the State of the Industry Video series, which tells the story of snow sports market sales in 2014/15 reaching $4.5B, reflecting a 2% increase over 2013/2014.

The video also covers major trends and influences in snow sports and gives additional background on categories that are thriving, despite regional weather challenges. Major topics include:

  • How did weather affect sales and what are some regional weather predictions for this season?
  • Participation snapshots for Cross Country, Snowboard, Ski and Backcountry

“We understand people are short on time and the State of the Industry Video Series provides a quick snapshot of last season. We focus on the stats that mean the most to all snow sports professionals – be it retail sales, marketing or manufacturing — to help everyone make sound business decisions in the year ahead,” commented Kelly Davis, director of research for SIA.

In additional to the snow sports market overview, SIA has also produced several category-specific State of the Industry Videos including ski, snowboard and cross country, illustrating key findings from the 2014/15 industry research.

Snowboard State of the Industry

Cross Country State of the Industry

Content for the State of the Industry Videos was pulled from the 2015 Snow Sports Market Intelligence Report, a wide-ranging report of activity in the snow sports marketplace including retail sales, participation trends, and demographics for participants, analysis of the season’s weather and overview of economic health of the entire industry during the 2014/2015 season.

SIA collects and analyzes all of its research, which ensures the information is relevant for the snow sports industry’s unique business needs including budgeting, product development or how to write a business plan. As a non-profit, member-owned trade association, SIA’s goal is to help businesses thrive on their own and as part of the larger snow sports industry. Membership dues help subsidize SIA’s exclusive research, making the data available at no cost or at significantly reduced pricing.

The 2015 Snow Sports Market Intelligence Report and The Descriptive Summary are available to non-SIA members for $525.
