Published: June 23, 2016 Press Release

Already having a bold presence in the board sport space, Stance is expanding its board rider roots to bring surf fans across the globe the Surf Legends collection. This new collection, in collaboration with iconic surf photographer Jeff Divine, uniquely showcases the surf icons that took the sport of surfing and turned it into what it is today.

This collection features an all-star list of heavy hitters who have made a lasting impact on progression and style within the surf community including Mark Occhilupo, Martin Potter, Christian Fletcher, Tom Curren, Tom Carroll, and Matt Archbold. Printed on Stance’s athletic crew silhouette, this collection gives surf fans a reason to not want to go barefoot. This capsule gives credit where it is needed, to the chargers that were not afraid to take off deeper and stall harder, setting the foundation of the sport for years to come.

Accompanying the launch of Surf Legends, Stance will also be releasing a short film shot and directed by new age filmmaker, Kai Neville. The film is a narrative on Jeff Divine, who is now one of the most recognizable figures in surf photography. The film depicts milestones from all six of the surfer’s careers and highlights the iconic images that Jeff scored of them.

The Surf Legends Collection is available exclusively at Swell, Surfstitch, and Surfdome,  and will be available globally beginning July 12th in select Stance retailers and online at stance.com. Surf fans across the world are urged to follow along on social with @stancesocks #theuncommonthread

ABOUT STANCE

Embracing “The Uncommon Thread” as its mantra, Stance has turned one of the world’s most boring accessories into its most exciting in less than five years. Stance’s founders saw a category that had been ignored, taken for granted, looked over, dismissed. By breathing life into something that had been overlooked, Stance ignited a movement of art and self-expression that has drawn athletes, performers and iconic cultural influencers to the brand – a group they call the Punks & Poets. And by underpinning its creative roots with a relentless focus on technical innovation, Stance is now found in over 30 countries on the feet of those who dare to be different.
