Surf Park Central and the Center for Surf Research are excited to announce Surf Park Summit 2, the industry’s second ever collaboration to accelerate the future of surfing outside the ocean, on Wednesday, September 7th at Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida.
Hosted by Surf Park Central and San Diego State University’s Center for Surf Research in conjunction with Surf Expo, the Summit is guaranteed to break boundaries and be a statement of impending disruption in the global surf industry.
“As we see it, the vision is clear: build authentic, sustainable and profitable surf experiences to grow the surf industry and provide the mental, physical and emotional stoke of surfing to those that do not have access to the ocean.” – Dr. Jess Ponting, Director of San Diego State University’s Center for Surf Research. To do this, the Summit will gather the industry’s top minds including surf park and surf pool developers, investors, operators, suppliers, academics, experts and athletes to discuss the opportunities and challenges related to the development of man-made surf destinations.
“Since the first Surf Park Summit in September of 2013 the surf park and surf pool market has rapidly evolved and continues to develop at an increasingly fast pace. The Summit was originally established to bring together the top companies and individuals in our industry to accelerate the global development of man-made surf destinations. Now more so than ever Surf Park Summit 2 stands to be a catalyst in the growth of surfing and the future of surfing outside the ocean. Success for us means two things: First, multiple surf parks are funded and developed as a result of the connections that are made at the event. Second, we want current developers, investors, operators and suppliers to be able to make the best possible decisions because of the knowledge, information and insights that are presented and contacts made during the Summit.” – John Luff, Founder of Surf Park Central
We have absolute confidence that the value of attending Surf Park Summit 2 will far exceed everyone’s expectations and are carefully grooming every request for invitation to ensure each attendee has the appropriate abilities, expertise and value to contribute to the industry.” – Dr. Jess Ponting
With speakers, presentations and exclusive panels from Doug Palladini (VP & GM North America, Vans), Fernando Aguerre (President, ISA), PT Townend (1976 ASP World Champ), Brad Gerlach (National Surf League), Roy Turner (Surf Expo), Skip Taylor (RePlay Resorts), Glen Brummage (Wabsono International), Dr. Jess Ponting (SDSU’s Center for Surf Research), Robert Reynolds (Surf Park Solutions), Tristan Boxford (Waterman League), a Wave Technology Manufacturer Panel and many more to come. Surf Park Summit 2 topics will include the current state of wave technology, surf park economics, business and operational models, surf tourism, surf park / surf pool investment & financing, sustainability, the development of surf destinations in non-coastal regions, and several more.
“Surf Parks are the key to making surfing a mainstream, commercially sustainable sport and to promoting surfing as an iconic lifestyle that transcends all nationalities and cultures,” says Surf Park Central Founder John Luff. “Surf parks are the answer to several of the big barriers between where the surf industry is now and where the industry has the potential to go. With such a small core surf market when compared to the aspirational customer base of most surf related companies, there’s a massive void that needs to be filled.”
Surf Park Central and SDSU’s Center for Surf Research are confident that whatever area of the surf park industry you currently do business in or wish to expand into, attending the Summit can open up business opportunities and partnerships for you. Throughout the full day event and private after-party at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool you will have access to unrivalled information, contacts and networking that will deliver opportunities to anyone who currently operates within the surf park industry or who wants to do business in this sector.
