This fall, Vans partners with renowned BMX brand Shadow Conspiracy to release the Vans x Shadow Penumbra Series as part of the fall BMX line. As the third project between Vans and Shadow Conspiracy, the collection celebrates more than ten years of the iconic Shadow Penumbra seat line, the first production BMX seats to utilize all-over prints and artwork in place of logos. With heavy influence from the art and skate world, these seats were treated like a blank canvas for creative expression. Three Pro Classic styles represent the Vans x Shadow Penumbra Series, complete with the full specs of Pro Classics performance: high impact ULTRACUSH HD cushioning in the footbed, unrivaled durability in Vans’ DURACAP underlays and legendary control in Vans’ original waffle outsole.
The Era Pro features Shadow’s Human Nature pattern printed on heavy gauge canvas on the uppers, while the Chukka Low uses Shadow’s woodland-inspired camo print on the quarter, tongue and footbed with full grain leather overlays. The Chukka Midtop boasts Shadow’s Palladium print on the footbed with a blacked out upper made of pig suede and heavy gauge canvas. All three styles are tied together with the Vans x Shadow Penumbra Series footbed logos, tongue label package and a material palette of full grain leather, pig suede and heavy-duty canvas.
Vans will celebrate the new collection at the beloved House of Vans in New York this Saturday, August 8. Vans and Shadow pros will be attending, plus the anticipated world premiere of Shadow Conspiracy’s “What Could Go Wrong?” BMX movie will be shown. The event is free and open to the public.
