Depop and Burton are opening the archive and bringing five decades of snowboard style to secondhand. In celebration of Burton’s 50th anniversary, Depop’s US community can shop 50 archival pieces from the brand, each priced at $50.50 and below – a nod to the milestone – connecting its history on the mountain with the personal style of today.
Launching October 28, the Burton Archive Shop on Depop brings together rare pieces that reflect the individuality and creative spirit of snowboard culture. The curated selection spans outerwear, apparel and accessories, offering longtime fans and new collectors a chance to own a piece of Burton’s history as winter approaches. Spanning the late ‘70s through the 2000s, the selection includes pieces from Analog, Ronin, Mark XIII, Idiom and more, all pulled from Burton’s own archive.
“Burton is as synonymous with snowboarding as it is with winter style, making them a uniquely exciting partner for us,” said Steve Dool, Senior Director of Brand and Creative at Depop. “Opening up the Burton archive to the Depop community is a perfect way to embody our mission of making it as easy as possible to access sought-after, well-made pieces from the past that are just as relevant and appealing today as they’ve ever been.”
The drop will be supported by creator content exploring Burton’s archive and the ways its pieces can be worn today. Bringing together voices across fashion and snow sports, the content will connect the stories behind the clothing with a new generation’s approach to styling it.
“If you’ve ever wondered what snowboarders were actually wearing back in the day, this drop is your answer,” said Todd Kohlman, Burton’s resident archivist. “These are real pieces from our archive and each one tells you something about how snowboarding looked and felt at the time. Opening the archive with Depop gives a new generation the chance to connect with that history in their own way. These pieces are a part of our story, and it’s going to be awesome to see where this community takes them next.”
Ahead of launch, shoppers can visit Burton’s Depop shop and sign up for a drop notification. The Burton Archive Shop launches October 28 at 3pm EST, exclusively for US shoppers, with all 50 pieces available at $50.50 and below, while supplies last. Keep an eye out for a second collection dropping mid-November.
