Brain Dead Fabrications honors Dickies storied workwear legacy and features a range of exclusive collaborative products, including embroidered overalls, work pants and tool belts. Designed to resemble your local hardware store, Brain Dead Fabrications will also feature custom accessories that work just as well in your living room as they would to erect your next structure, hard hats and all. With Dickies as a partner our goal is to provide high quality workwear for creatives of all types to execute their best work, whether that’s making furniture, art, or skatingboarding. Brain Dead Fabrications is eager to make a positive impact on the incredible neighborhood of Silverlake and will be hosting an opening party on Friday, August 27th to celebrate the launch.

“Dickies work pants are a day-to-day staple in my wardrobe because they’re made to live and work in. With that idea in mind, we wanted the collaborative space to be a neighborhood store, similar to the stores I would buy Dickies from growing up. First and foremost, I think a neighborhood store should serve its community. Given that Silverlake is a community of makers, we wanted to keep things simple and highlight the theme of workwear. That’s why we’re dedicating some of the space to a revolving schedule of creatives, artists, and designers to showcase their work within the community.” – Kyle Ng

Brain Dead Fabrications will be located at 3819 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, 90026 with goods ranging from $25-$150. The shop will be open to the public Friday, August 27th, Mondays-Saturdays 11 AM-7PM andSundays 11 AM-6 PM, with all products available exclusively in-store.

Michael Decker – Artist Feature:

For “Dada Donda Goods” artist Michael Decker made a series of mosaic sculptures using collections he’s patiently gathered over time. Novelty mugs depicting faces and other body parts are broken, reassembled, and embedded in grout. Evoking the uncanny, these multi-faced bulbous forms full of pop iconography are stranger than the sum of their parts. Some of them are functional table lamps equipped with an exposed bulb and electrical cord. The everyday becomes archetypal. Suggesting a kind of contemporary dadaist tactic, whereby casting light on the artists’ collections one can see how thoughtfully composed they are. Each piece possesses a conceptual rigor consistent with its material outcome. Michael Decker’s practice involves a lot of physical play in a diverse array of media. He makes drawings, paintings, collages, installations, sculptures, videos and performance art. Decker explores the peculiarities of American consumerism by reconstituting domestic objects found in thrift stores throughout Southern and Central California, where the artist was raised.

Born in Spokane, WA in 1982, Michael Decker received a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts (2005). For the past 15 years he has maintained a studio practice working almost exclusively in Los Angeles.
