Published: September 5, 2025 Press Release

Finisterre, the pioneering cold-water surf and coastal lifestyle brand, is proud to announce the launch of a limited-edition womenswear capsule collection, designed in collaboration with acclaimed designer and environmental activist Amy Powney.

Born from a shared commitment to environmental responsibility and timeless design, the Amy Powney + Finisterre collection blends technical innovation with understated, versatile style. Crafted for the modern woman navigating life between city and sea.

This collaboration also marks a strategic step forward in Finisterre’s evolution of womenswear, introducing a more fashion-led offering that still holds to the brand’s purpose-driven ethos. With elevated silhouettes, refined detailing, and carefully selected sustainable materials, the capsule is designed to resonate with a growing audience of style-conscious, environmentally aware women who seek functional pieces without compromising on aesthetic or ethics.

“I have always been inspired by Finisterre and its incredible ethos and commitment to sustainability, with a deep passion for the natural world. I wanted to create a collection for women which, from a design perspective, speaks to our many layers and passions. In the rhythm of modern life, each day we ebb and flow through multiple environments and, simultaneously, many versions of ourselves. I wanted to create a multifunctional and versatile capsule, empowering women to transcend landscapes.

The collection is also a reminder that we are all inherently connected, that our lives are intertwined with the surrounding ecosystems. Finisterre has an incredible commitment to saving the sea, and as an urban dweller, I am very aware that all rivers lead to the sea; therefore, we are all connected, all part of the problem and together can all be part of the solution. That’s why in celebration of this collection, we are donating £5,000 to support Thames21, an environmental charity that works with communities, to restore and ensure the protection of our waterways as ‘all rivers lead to the sea’.”

Drawing on Amy’s upbringing on a rural farm and her deep-rooted connection to sustainability, the collection incorporates natural and lower-impact materials such as Tencel®, NetPlus®, certified organic cotton, recycled fills, and 100% Merino wool. Each piece reflects a thoughtful balance of functionality and form, designed to stand the test of time. The collection is defined by a palette of earthy, grounded tones like mossy greens, deep sea blues, and muted neutrals inspired by the rugged natural landscape of Cornwall. These colours were carefully chosen to create a calm, adaptable wardrobe that blends effortlessly with both urban and coastal surroundings.

The 17-piece capsule includes outerwear, knitwear, jersey, and woven staples with highlights including:

● The Waterproof Parka, $425.00 – A reimagined utility hero piece with storm-ready detailing, crafted for both the cityscape and coastal trails.

● The Quilted Liner Jacket, $280.00 – Inspired by military classics, it stands alone or layers effortlessly.

● The Beach Robe, $325.00 – Equally suited to sea swims and urban outings, with functional design features and warm fleece touches.

● The Fisherman Rib Roll Neck and Aran Jumper, $210.00 & $280.00 – Elevated takes on Finisterre’s heritage pieces, with soft, voluminous silhouettes made for modern layering.

● The High Neck Tee and Pleated Trousers, $115.00 & $180.00 – Foundational wardrobe pieces that blend durability with subtle femininity.

The collection is made for women who are constantly in motion between the rugged coastline and urban environment, highlighting the interconnectivity of our ecosystems with the capsule’s campaign line, ‘all rivers lead to the sea’.

Staying true to this ethos, the collection was designed by women, for women, designed by Amy Powney and led by our Design Manager, Rose Savidge. “The collection brings together technical performance with effortless, adaptable design — created for modern women who move fluidly between urban life and coastal landscapes.” This sentiment was echoed by Finisterre’s Product Director, Amelia Hornblow, who added, “Amy’s work in fashion has been a huge inspiration to us. Not only does she bring a beautiful handwriting to her design language, but her design ethos and commitment to sustainable design and sourcing align seamlessly with Finisterre’s values.”

Shot by Lucy Laucht, the raw, elemental beauty of the coastline reflects the quiet strength and pared-back romance of the collection.

The Finisterre x Amy Powney capsule is available exclusively via finisterre.com and in select stores. Prices start from $35.00 for a pair of cable knit socks to $425.00 for the waterproof parka.
