FP Movement Partners with the Surfrider Foundation

Free People’s activewear brand FP Movement joins the Foundation to bring awareness of the importance of clean beaches.
Published: June 10, 2022 Press Release

This year, FP Movement is excited to partner with the nonprofit organization, the Surfrider Foundation. The partnership includes volunteer events across the country, as well as a limited-edition apparel collaboration that will be available starting in June on FPMovement.com in recognition of World Environment Day on June 5th.

This is the brand’s first partnership under their Gather for Good initiative. Together, united in shared intention, community grows infinitely stronger. Gather for Good serves as a platform through which we can collectively channel our energies and realize goals through the art of experience as we work to nurture community at all levels.

FP Movement was created in honor of self and spirit – to celebrate and nurture, starting from the inside out. From studio to street, for yoga, dance, running and all workouts in between, FP Movement is designed using signature technical fabrics that reflect the transformative power that is Movement.

The Surfrider Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network. In 2021 alone, Surfrider volunteers cleaned up more than 120,000 pounds of trash and recycling, mobilized over 11,500 volunteers, and hosted over 1,100 cleanups through their national beach cleanup program.

“Free People has embraced grassroots conservation and created an engaging platform to connect their loyal community with opportunities to give back,” said Surfrider’s Partnerships Manager, Mary Herbranson. “This year’s series of volunteer events and limited-edition apparel collaboration will not only raise meaningful awareness, but it will also measurably advance our shared goal of protecting what we love – our ocean, waves and beaches.”

To raise awareness for the organization and as part of the larger partnership, FP Movement hosted eight beach cleanups across the country in cities including Chicago, Santa Monica, Charleston, Honolulu, and Miami to name a few, as well as an employee cleanup in our own backyards. Each event consisted of a two-hour coastal cleanup while participants also learned about the impact we can have as a community when we come together to focus on coastline preservation, clean water initiatives and plastic reduction. In total, the FP Movement community picked up more than 1,400 pounds of trash along waterways, with over 295 community members participating, and over 260+ collective volunteer hours together. An additional $2,100 was raised toward the $50,000 donation to the Surfrider Foundation in community ticket sales.

Additionally, starting in June, two exclusive top styles will launch on FPMovement.com to support the Surfrider Foundation. Both styles will feature “Protect and Enjoy” alongside an ocean graphic. The Care FP Earth Babe Tee will be featured in a grey color with billowed sleeves retailing for $88. The Care FP Inhale Tank will be in a light blue color retailing for $68. Both products will raise awareness for Surfrider’s work and will support FP’s donation of $50,000.

Customers can shop both styles on FPMovement.com starting June 7th and a week later on Surfrider.org starting June 14th.
