Hari Mari Partners with Sage Erickson and Daniel Norris

Dallas-based premium flip flop brand expands its ambassador network with West Coast-based professional athletes.

Hari Mari, the luxury sandal company known for its comfort-first construction, announced a new partnership with professional athletes and married couple Sage Erickson and Daniel Norris. Erickson is a two-time US Open of Surfing champion and Norris is a former MLB pitcher and current surfboard designer and maker.

Sage Erickson, born in Ojai, California where the couple now lives, has competed in the World Surf League since 2012. She won the US Open of Surfing in both 2017 and 2019 and still surfs professionally today.

Daniel Norris, who was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2011 MLB draft, gained some notoriety for his decision to live in a VW van during the baseball offseason while surfing the California coast, despite his comfortable salary. His humility and minimalism led to him living out Hari Mari’s guiding ethos: Everyday Exploring.

“Daniel and Sage embody the surf lifestyle and ethos,” said Lila Stewart, Hari Mari Founder. “Hari Mari’s name literally means sun and sea, and who could better serve as the face of our brand than a champion surfer and a surfboard maker? They’re both incredible humans and we’re beyond thrilled and super proud of this partnership and a part of our ambassador team.”

The couple, who married in 2023, met on Instagram. Their ability to relate to each other’s struggles as pro athletes strengthened their long-distance relationship when Daniel was signed to the Detroit Tigers as Sage was training for the US Open. They now live on the West Coast and spend their time gardening, surfing, and creating in Daniel’s surfboard shop.

“I’ve been a fan of Hari Mari since long before we came across the opportunity to work together,” said Norris. “It’s always been important to work with brands I truly believe in so this collaboration feels like a really perfect match.”

Hari Mari just launched its new spring 2025 collection, which includes new styles of flip flops and sandals for men and women, as well as some customer favorites in new colorways. The collection is available on HariMari.com and in select retail stores.
