The International Surfing Association (ISA) has today unveiled a new vision motto – ‘A Better World Through Surfing’.

With less than a year to go until Surfing’s Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games, the new motto will be used immediately and rolled-out across all ISA communications and marketing.

ISA President, Fernando Aguerre, commented today:

“We have always believed deeply in the power of surfing as a force for social, cultural and environmental good,  and the inspiring contribution that surfing does for the wider global community. And so, we’re totally stoked to launch today the ISA’s new motto, ‘A Better World Through Surfing’.

“I first coined this new motto a year ago and we’re delighted that the ISA Executive Committee unanimously approved it during the recent World Surfing Games in Japan. This motto has evolved to express Surfing’s soul and the journey our sport has been on for many years, especially since Olympic inclusion. Surfing’s influence and positive coolness have continually expanded around the world with so many people taking up and watching Surfing. Surfing’s explosive global development, led by the ISA, has expanded our active role in making the world a better a better place for everyone.

“Aligned with the vision and values of the Olympic Movement and the positive contribution made by the Games underlined by the IOC’s own global campaign “Together We Can Change the World”, the ISA firmly believes the universality of Surfing can bring great benefits to society, We continue our commitment to addressing key issues such as improving gender equality in sport, advocating more sustainable ways of living, campaigning for better ocean safety and tackling the global environmental threat to the oceans of the world.”
