KÜHL, a premium independent outdoor brand, today announced the relaunch of its Spyfire collection, the brand’s legacy down jacket program, marking its first significant redesign in nearly 10 years. The updated line brings stitch-free baffle construction and premium Muscovy duck down to seven styles for men and women available for Fall 2026.
The most significant change is the fabric: KÜHL replaced traditional stitched baffles, which require needle holes that let down-fill and heat escape over time, with stitch-free baffles woven directly into the fabric at the mill. The result is a garment with less down and air leakage, added durability, and warmth that holds up longer than a traditionally stitched jacket.
KÜHL also upgraded the collection’s fill to RDS-certified Muscovy duck down (90% Muscovy duck down, 10% duck feathers, 800-fill). The Muscovy duck is the largest duck species in North America, and its larger down clusters pack down smaller and retain warmth better than standard goose down. The down rebounds and retains loft after multiple washes and is treated with a C0 DWR finish for durable water resistance.
Beyond materials, the Spyfire program received a fit and detail overhaul: more anatomically correct hoods that lay flat, better-articulated arms, streamlined cuff design, additional pockets, cleaner hem adjustments, and upgraded zipper pullers and locker loops throughout the line.
“Spyfire has been one of our most-loved pieces for a decade, and this redesign was about making sure it earns that loyalty for the next one,” said Sarah Scott, Marketing Manager and Product Specialist at KÜHL. “Every change, from the baffle construction to the fit, was inspired by real-world testing and customer feedback over the years.”
