Paka, the sustainable alpaca fiber apparel company, has partnered with Leah Dawson (Pro surfer and Ocean advocate) for their new 100% earth-friendly and microplastic-free line Breathe by Paka™.
Every time we do a load of laundry with synthetic clothes, approximately 9,000,000 plastic microfibers are released. Currently, 35% of all microplastics in the ocean come from washing synthetic textiles, with about 2.2 million tons of new microfibers entering the sea each year. Those microplastics are everywhere, from beaches to arctic ice to the deepest points in the ocean.
Paka is creating a better alternative with 100% earth-friendly and completely microplastic-free activewear. Breathe by Paka is lightweight and versatile with a two-layered double-knit system composed of 100% natural materials. The soft-to-skin touch of organic pima on the interior is combined with the thermoregulation of alpaca and moisture-wicking properties of tencel on the exterior.
Leah Dawson spoke about her own reason behind wearing Breathe “Paka’s new breathe collection is something I feel so confident and comfortable and happy to wear because I know that it’s not wrecking myself or the earth,”
