LIVSN Designs, an outdoor apparel brand known for its commitment to durability and intentional design, releases today a limited run of aprons for Father’s Day produced with Fayetteville-based fashion and design studio Big Sister.
Created from LIVSN’s signature Flex Canvas fabric, these aprons feature an eye-catching, color-blocked design complete with three pockets, a towel hanger, adjustable straps, and a front slit specially optimized for bike wrenchers. The proprietary Flex Canvas fabric is made from blending OCS-certified organic cotton, GRS-certified recycled polyester, and spandex, creating a piece that’s built to last, stretch when needed, and break in beautifully over time.
While exciting in its own right, this apron collaboration represents more than a one-off product drop. Since 2021, LIVSN has been repairing products locally with partners including Interform, Tabitha Buckner, and Brandy Lee of Big Sister Studio. Not only has the repair program served as a way for LIVSN to honor its commitment to maximizing product function, it too has served as a way to support local sewists in an effort to preserve dying but highly valuable skills.
When Colorado-turned-Arkansas guiding business Campfire Ranch reached out to LIVSN about getting custom aprons, the folks at LIVSN were excited to use the opportunity to collaborate with local makers and designers Tabitha Buckner and Brandy Lee. The original few aprons were a hit and drummed up significant demand, leading to a bigger (still small) batch run of Flex Canvas aprons by Brandy Lee.
“While domestic production capabilities are limited at this point, we take pride in working with the highly skilled sewists in our backyard on projects like this,” said Abby Hollis, Director of Product and Sustainability. “We know that there’s no magic answer to reshoring our garment industry and scaling a skilled workforce, but we believe that revitalization of the industry starts with thoughtful support of local sewists.”
“For the last few months, we’ve been handling the LIVSN repair program and really getting to know their line and values,” said Brandy Lee, Founder of Big Sister Studio. “Whether it’s patching some well-loved gear up or creating something entirely new from existing materials, I’m excited to partner in an ongoing way with a values-aligned brand that cares about their products and is inventive with their resources”
Only fifty of these aprons were produced for this limited run, which marks a stark departure from the typical apparel production cycle that often necessitates high minimum order quantities.
“We aim to make apparel that serves a purpose both in production and use” said Hollis. “Through the production phase, we’ve tested new systems, collaborated with local partners, and laid a foundation for future small batch production. Now, we’re excited to get these aprons out into the world, serving their use purpose in kitchens, garages, bike shops, and anywhere else you project.”
These aprons are available to order now until supplies last.
