Native Shoes Introduces New Styles Made with Algae

All shoes in the collection incorporate repurposed algae, thanks to future-forward Rise by Bloom technology.
Published: April 29, 2020 Press Release

Native Shoes is expanding its revolutionary earth-friendly Bloom footwear line with the launch of brand new styles and colorways. Hitting virtual shelves on May 4th 2020, the launch will see a new Audrey Bloom and Jefferson Bloom Child, as well as vibrant new hues for the classic Jefferson Bloom.

All shoes in the collection incorporate repurposed algae, thanks to future-forward Rise by Bloom technology. In a symbiotic two-fold process, toxic algae is simultaneously swept from our lakes and freshwater ecosystems and transformed into a high-performance material to be incorporated into our future-forward footwear. The innovative manufacturing process cleans up to 80L of water and 50m3 of air per pair, resulting in cleaner lakes and rivershealthier air and featherlight footwear.

Native Shoes launched the debut Jefferson Bloom in 2019 as the first-ever shoe to be made entirely from mono material Bloom repurposed algae-infused EVA. As summer approaches, this eco-innovation has been extended with the launch of a host of new planet-friendly hues for the iconic Jefferson style.

For the first time, Native Shoes has introduced Bloom technology into the ever-chic Audrey silhouette. The classic, feminine style boasts the same beloved flexible-form, sole-flattering and hand-washable design as its namesake, but now comes with added eco credentials courtesy of added Bloom content.

Kids can get in on the action too, with the launch of the Jefferson Bloom Child. The new sustainable spin on the ever-popular slip-on, slip-off kids shoe means little ones can tread ever-more lightly with their favourite style in a vast array of vibrant Bloom-infused shades.

Native Shoes is on a mission to help the world to Live Lightly through sustainable design and innovation, with the goal of giving 100% of shoes an end of life solution by 2023. In addition to the use of innovative materials such as Bloom, the brand is pioneering eco-initiatives such as the Native Shoes Remix Project™, through which all shoes can be recycled and given a second life as playgrounds for local children in Vancouver, Canada. The brand is also pioneering sustainable technological solutions including 3D Rapid Liquid Printing  of shoes and pushing the boundaries of plant-based design.

The Bloom collection will be available to purchase from NativeShoes.com from May 4th 2020. The Jefferson Bloom is priced at $45 USD / $65 CAD, the Audrey Bloom is priced at $55 USD / $75 CAD and the Jefferson Bloom Child is priced from $40 USD / $55 CAD.
