Quiksilver today reintroduces The Original Arch Boardshort, an iconic boardshort with a true sense of surf style, coupled with performance credentials. The boardshort features an iconic Arch side panel, with a distinctive checkerboard treatment for Summer 2021 replicating some of Quiksilver’s most iconic and much imitated shorts.
Born in 1969, The Original was the first boardshort to blend style with performance to create something that represented the raw, progressive energy of surfing. Available in four base colours for this Summer (black, Quik red, airy blue and shocking pink), the short has a number of intrinsic design details to make it a franchise style in Quiksilver’s range of surfing boardshorts:
- ● Arch Construction – the design that changed everything: Quiksilver’s 1981 Arch panel, which follows the body’s lines, increasing flexibility and allowing for better surfing
- ● Recycled Fabric – a 4-way stretch fabric made from recycled plastic bottles, offers wearers comfort, performance and sustainability
- ● Contrast Stitching – when boardshorts were born, designers didn’t have the luxury of matching stitch color to fabric color. Turns out it looks good, so it’s been kept around
- ● Patch- the short wouldn’t be complete without an iconic logo. Quiksilver’s is on a lure patch woven into the short – wearers won’t find this anywhere else
100% of Quiksilver’s boardshort range are now made from recycled water bottles. The brand has focused on using recycled water bottles since the breakthrough of this fabric technology and to date has reused over 250 million bottles that would otherwise have gone into landfill.
The Original Volley
The Original Arch’s sister The Original Volley Arch short will also be available this Summer, in the same colourways (black, Quik red, airy blue and shocking pink). This volley short includes the same stretch fabric, but offers a more relaxed styling with a shorter cut, elasticated waist and pockets, with wearers looking at home on the beach or in the streets.
