Rip Curl Expands Its European Wetsuit Recycling Program

Rip Curl is partnering with Circular Flow to give used wetsuits a second life.
Published: September 9, 2025 Press Release

As part of its global Recycle Your Wetsuit initiative, Rip Curl is strengthening its environmental commitment in Europe by partnering with Circular Flow from 2025 to give used wetsuits a second life.

Launched in Australia in 2021 and later expanded internationally, Recycle Your Wetsuit allows surfers to drop off their old wetsuits at participating stores. These are then collected, sorted, and recycled into useful products.

In Europe, the program continues with the support of Circular Flow, which will transform collected wetsuits into new neoprene products such as change mats. This offers a practical solution to reduce the environmental impact of surfing throughout the year.

“We are proud to roll out this initiative in Europe, the result of close collaboration between our teams and partners. This project marks a major step forward in our commitment to establishing a circular model for wetsuit recycling, with these first products and an expanded range to come. It also reflects Rip Curl’s determination to accelerate its transition toward a more sustainable economy, in line with our ambitious ESG approach and our B Corp certification, says Jonathan Cetran, Head of Products at Rip Curl Europe.

Since its international launch in 2021, the program has enabled the recycling of over 32,000 wetsuits worldwide, including more than 12,000 in Europe. Rip Curl accepts wetsuits and neoprene surf accessories from all brands. Gloves and booties must be submitted in pairs. Users can drop off their wetsuits free of charge at participating Rip Curl stores or contact customer service at eu.customerservice@ripcurl.com.

Founded in 1969 in Torquay on the Australian coast, Rip Curl is now one of the most influential surf brands in the world. As a pioneer and B Corp certified company, it places sustainable innovation at the heart of its commitments by developing high-performance products designed to last and respect the environment.

About Rip Curl

Rip Curl began with a vision. In the late 1960s, Brian and Claw recognized an opportunity to make a living in the new surf market. The duo wanted to create a surfing business that would finance their surf and travel habits, so they designed and made surfboards and wetsuits that would also benefit their surfing and time in the ocean.

The company was built on the strength and success of these core products and is now focused on designing and manufacturing innovative products that help surfers perform better while living the search. Born in the cold-water waves of Bells Beach, Australia, Rip Curl is now recognized and respected by people all over the world. The Search is the driving force behind the brand’s progress and vision. When crew are chasing uncharted reefs or untracked powder, Rip Curl will arm them with the best equipment they’ll need.

Since 2023, Rip Curl is a Certified B Corporation and part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.
