Rural is Rad Week Celebrates Small Businesses in Colorado

Published: December 4, 2024 Press Release

Rural is Rad, the movement that supports rural brands and founders doing rad things in the outdoor industry, is excited to announce its second annual Rural is Rad Week kicking off on Small Business Saturday, November 30th – December 7th! Rural is Rad Week celebrates and supports rural outdoor brands in Colorado and helps consumers discover new brands while giving back to the hard working people in these communities.

RIR Pink (2)Rural is Rad Week will feature special discounts, unique product releases, and in-person events at participating retailers, breweries, and more. From handcrafted goods and gear to sustainable apparel and one-of-a-kind experiences, shoppers can immerse themselves in the creativity and craftsmanship of rural businesses across the state.

As an example of how supporting these businesses will also support the community in which they operate, a percentage of proceeds from Buttnski will go to support the VNRBbirds Scholarship Fund, which provides educational opportunities for women-identifying and non-binary riders (who are comfortable in femme-centered spaces) to build confidence and self-reliance in the outdoors through mountain biking, backcountry skiing/splitboarding, and community meet ups. The goal of Rural is Rad Week is to drive revenue for rural businesses, provide an alternative to shopping ‘big’ and build a year-round community between the businesses, the customers and each other.

Rural is Rad was dreamed up by the founders of Town Hall Outdoor Co (Robin Hall), Buttnski (Kelly Mazanti) and Stray Wild (TJ Smith). The movement was formed through a shared objective to build awareness for rural brands and founders who experience shared challenges working in remote places with limited resources.

“Our directory is growing and we’re honored to have 40+ brands on the list across rural Colorado with more joining every day!” – Robin Hall, Town Hall Outdoor Co.

Rural is Rad celebrates the uniqueness of rural businesses, and is committed to empowering small, independent brands to thrive in the outdoor and lifestyle industries, alongside more established brands that have made the conscious choice and effort to remain rooted in rural Colorado. As part of the collective, brands will have access to a supportive network, exclusive marketing opportunities, and tools designed to help them connect with customers who value the authenticity and craftsmanship that rural communities offer. By joining Rural is Rad, you are part of a movement that champions local businesses, uplifts rural creators, and fosters a sense of adventure and community. Together, we’ll showcase the incredible products and stories from rural areas, proving that collaboration drives positive impact for everyone.

How you can support these brands:

  1. Wander into a local independent retailer
  2. Book an experience with a guide & outfitter
  3. Buy online directly from the brand’s website
