It’s back! The only international surf and environmental film festival returns for another year of impressive films, fun crowds and a good time.
But what is the “Save The Waves Film Festival”?
Save The Waves Film Festival is the world’s only international surf and environmental film fest. It’s a global film tour and fundraiser hosted by nonprofit Save The Waves Coalition.
Since its creation in 2008, STWFF features inspiring nonfiction and documentary films on surf and water sports, travel and adventure, plus conservation and climate.
This year’s lineup of short films features surf breaks and stories from California, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Greenland, the Pacific Northwest, Australia and South Africa. The 2025 filmmakers include Will Bendix , Annie K Fergerson, Christian Habberstad, Lukas Olesinski, Nicolas Pina, Jesús Salazar, Benjamin Soto and Jordyn Romero.
Beyond its adventurous surf content, Save The Waves Film Festival also includes documentary and nonfiction films about the ocean, climate and shares stories from those who are the frontlines of coastal conservation.
“Our film festival is more than just surf films that transport you to dreamy point breaks and far flung beaches. STWFF is also about inspiring, teaching and sharing how we protect our surf ecosystems and how real change is made when passionate people work together,” said Nik Strong-Cvetich, CEO of Save The Waves.
The initial release of tour dates include screenings in the United States, particularly California, Australia, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Additional events are expected to be announced in Mexico, Costa Rica, and more.
Check out the tour schedule and be ready to join an evening of full community stoke!
This year’s Save The Waves Film Festival is supported by Finisterre, dryrobe, Rivian Foundation, Sandbar Solar, Rumpl, Surfer Magazine and Mountains Waves Marketing.
