Stance Set to Open Its First Store in Southern California

The store is scheduled to open at Irvine Spectrum Center on Aug. 18.

Stance, the brand known for turning socks into a statement piece, today announced that it will open the doors of its first Southern California retail location in the new expansion wing of Irvine Spectrum Center opening on August 18th. The 1,800 square retail space was designed to feel like an extension of the brand’s unique headquarters, where art, innovation and creativity have taken Stance from a small Orange County-based brand to one that is now sold in over 60 countries.

“We are proud to call Orange County our home and so much of our success is due to how people here have supported us from the very start and continue to support us to this day,” said Paul Zaengle, EVP of Direct-to-Consumer at Stance. “Being able to open our first Southern California store in the beautiful new section of the Irvine Spectrum is a proud moment for us, and we are really excited for people to be able to experience it.”

The store opens shortly after the launch of Stance’s first t-shirt collection, rounding out the company’s position as an elevated basics brand with full lines of socks, men’s underwear, women’s intimates, and t-shirts. All of the brand’s categories will be represented in the space, with an interior and exterior that was designed by Stance’s in-house creative teams. The retail environment was designed to feel like an extension of Stance’s headquarters, where industrial work aesthetics are graced with fine art murals, and where modern furniture sits against vintage wooden wall treatments. Stance Punks & Poets – an eclectic cast of artists, musicians, and athletes – are highlighted throughout the store.

One of the unique features that shoppers will experience there is Stance Self-Checkout, which is the first true self-checkout solutionrolled out by any retailer globally. Stance Self-Checkout allows customers to completely skip lines or kiosks and purchase items by simply using their smartphone – no app download required. Shoppers simply navigate to a short URL where they easily scan the barcodes on product tags, add them to their cart, and check out using a credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. This means that the customer doesn’t have to download an app, or go to a special kiosk to ring up their purchase, making it the first true hassle-free self-checkout experience anywhere in retail.
