Vans Skateboarding is proud to partner with Montreal-based Punkandyo for a fresh take on the Skate Sk8-Hi® Decon, featuring an all-black colorway and custom details that give nod to Punkandyo’s ‘90s-inspired aesthetic. The Sk8-Hi® Decon will be available at a special pop-up event in NYC beginning August 23, followed by a global release on August 24, 2023, at select Vans Skateboarding retail locations and Vans.com/skateboarding.
Founded by longtime Vans Skateboarding team rider Etienne Gagne and friend and graphic designer Anthony Asfour, Punkandyo is grounded in the concept of not living within the confines of skateboarding, fashion, or the surrounding culture. Pulling from the brand’s roots in skateboarding subculture and the nostalgia of their childhood, Punkandyo’s vision for the Sk8-Hi® Decon comes to life across an all-black palette of elevated suede and canvas, with an ice grey contrast stitch. The inspiration behind the colorway reflects Punkandyo’s ethos for an everyday, wearable silhouette that still pushes the boundaries of design.
Custom details include a P&Y hang flag, embossed foxing featuring Punkandyo’s website, and a P&Y debossed heel counter graphic. Adding a pop of color, the shoelaces are offered in a bright gecko green in addition to a muted black and white option, matching back to the custom Vans Checkerboard hang flag and heel scab. Tying it all together, the laces and foxing feature Punkandyo’s signature brand font.
The Vans Skateboarding x Punkandyo Skate Sk8-Hi® Decon will be available at a special pop-up event opening to the public on August 23, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 195 Henry St., Manhattan, New York, NY 10002, and running through August 25, 2023. The collaboration will be released globally on August 24, 2023, at select Vans Skateboarding retail locations and Vans.com/Skateboarding.
