It’s that bridging of generations and the deep connections forged in nature that inspired Vans’ new Future Currents VR3 collection, an offering of footwear and apparel that’s both environmentally conscious and built for the unexpected to and from the ocean.
Each piece follows the Vans VR3 design guidelines. The checkerboard globe logo on the footwear signifies that 30% of the product is made of one or a combination of regenerative, renewable, and/or recycled materials. The collection’s key piece is the UltraRange™ Neo VR3 made with an upper of 100% recycled PET textile and leather sourced from farms implementing regenerative practices such as rotational grazing and diverse pasture management. This sits atop a midsole that is 50% bio-based EVA foam and an outsole that is 60% regeneratively grown natural rubber.
The style is accompanied by a Sk8-Hi® 38 Decon VR3 and an Authentic VR3 which boast suede and canvas uppers made from 100% US-grown cotton from farms utilizing practices that can help improve a soil’s ability to absorb carbon. There’s even the ultimate “chiller,” an ultra-cozy Harbor Mule. Rounding off the offerings are the Ever-Ride Boardshort with a sublimated wave pattern, a T-shirt, and an unstructured 6-panel hat, each offering a new take on the Future Currents collection’s signature pattern. All the pieces feature a muted color scheme with calming embellishments that pay homage to ocean waves, natural surface patterns and Zen gardens.
