On Thursday, March 29th, VIONIC Beach sandals hosted it’s SoCal customer base, industry colleagues, Surf, Active Lifestyle, & Beach Culture media, friends & family for its official brand launch at the Four Moons Spa in Encinitas. Fresh off a solid season of trade shows worldwide, the brand was thrilled to unveil its revamped look and feel, a fresh and uniquely positioned brand narrative, and a cool new lineup of sandals to over 200 guests from the community.
“Vionic Beach is doing something new and different in the sandal space that we’ve found resonates deeply within our community of active lifestyle, health conscious, surf & beach culture enthusiasts, says GM, Dave Ortley. “We chose Encinitas for our headquarters because of its position as a global thought-leader in surf, beach culture, and healthy living, the deep pool of specialized talent that resides in the area, its roots in wellness, and the spirit of its entire community. We really believe that if we stay close to the source of what we believe is a significant cultural movement, our work will continue to be inspired by our surrounding environment. Our end user is here, our customers are close by, and we’re finding like-minded partner brands for mutual support that will continue to fuel the development of the brand and growth of our business”.
Beyond the brand introduction, VIONIC BEACH unveiled its first product collaboration with Encinitas based artist, Marissa Quinn, at this event. The #VIONICBeachxMQ collection was sparked during a surf session at Beacon’s in Leucadia, when GM, Dave Ortley got to chatting with Marissa Quinn out in the lineup. “We see our sandals as an open canvas for artistic expression and we were in search of an artist that really embodies the spirit of the brand and lifestyle that we portray. In Marissa we found the ideal partner, and our collab was born,” Ortley says, referring to their initial chance meeting in the lineup. The #VIONICBeachxMQ collection features two different sandal prints inspired by the “Sun + Moon,” and will each come with an 8×8” limited edition print with purchase. They will hit stores this May.
There was also a cause tie-in with this collaboration. VIONIC Beach has teamed up with the Changing Tides Foundation on a special initiative to help with victims of the Thomas Fire in Santa Barbara, alongside the team at Help California. During the month of January, Marissa was on hand for Live Drawings, at Swim Collective and Surf Expo, in Anaheim and Orlando respectively, where she created a series of paintings inspired by their collaboration. These four paintings will go LIVE on an online auction Friday, April 6th, and will be available for bidding throughout the month of April. All proceeds raised will be directed to the Changing Tides Foundation for this relief effort.
Cardiff by the Sea based Camera Camper vintage photo booth company were on site to capture the evening’s festivities.
Drinks were provided by Duckfoot Beer, Elouan Wines, and Akash Winery, and Moonage Food Co. was onsite selling their killer tacos all night. North County’s resident DJ, Gabe Garcia, kept the party rocking into the evening with a fun mix of tunes that turned into a full dance party around the firepits.
Raffle items were provide by Nixon, Raen, Shaper Studios, Vuori Clothing, Pura Vida bracelets, Coola Suncare, Surfhouse Adventures, The Girl and the Water, Superbrand, ALOHA Collection, Hemlock Hats, Kopari Beauty, Elizabeth Jane Swim, Often Wander Candles and jewelry, Eir NYC, Local Beach, Leus, Skova Co., Suga Yoga mats, and Sea and Grass bags.
The first 100 People in attendance also received a free pair of flip flops.
