Vuori announced its partnership with CleanHub, a company dedicated to freeing the planet from plastic pollution, in order to offset its plastic footprint by investing in recycling programs that keep the oceans clean. As a CleanHub partner, Vuori will begin calculating its plastic usage and then invests in programs to remove an equal or larger amount of plastic from the environment.
Remember, only 9% of plastic waste actually gets recycled—the rest is dumped openly or piled onto landfills. When that happens, plastic leaks into rivers and streams, clogging sewage systems and passing through waterways, ultimately reaching the ocean. 90% of this waste sinks to depths where it can never be recovered.
By the end of this year, Vuori will have prevented the waste of 1.2 million plastic bags.
Ideated, launched and with an HQ based in oceanside Encinitas, California, Vuori has always had an intimate connection with the ocean. The Vuori team believes that clean oceans are critical to the health of our planet, and is dedicated to running their businesses more sustainably. You may recall that in September, Vuori announced their achievement of Climate Neutral Certified status. This is all part of Vuori’s much larger, ongoing goal of helping their customers feel good about the things they buy and how they’re made.
