West Path, a southern California surfing and yoga lifestyle brand, has released its newest specialty product, along with a pledge to donate a portion of proceeds to save ocean wildlife.
This durable and comfortable woven poncho is the perfect garment for surfers to stay warm and dry, and quickly change in and out of wetsuits. It is the re-imagining of West Path’s first surf poncho, and a perfect complement to the company’s existing line of signature surfboard bags, blankets and yoga mat bags.
West Path is teaming up with SEE Turtles, a nonprofit dedicated to turtle conservation, in order to raise money to protect sea turtle hatchlings as they make their journey to the sea. West Path will donate enough cash to save 10 baby sea turtles for each and every surf poncho sold – up to 20,000 hatchlings total.
“In the past, we have partnered with several charities, but from now on each of our products will have a special relationship with a charity,” said West Path co-founder and CEO Dustin Relethford. “It’s a way to give each product a meaningful story and creative purpose.”
With a luxurious thick pile, patterned fabric hood liner, and handy front pocket for carrying your phone or surf wax, this is a serious improvement on the traditional surf poncho. Just like all of West Path’s bags, blankets, accessories and apparel, this garment was produced with ethically-sourced materials and equitable labor.
“We went through six or seven rounds of samples for this poncho,” says Relethford. “Getting in and out of a wetsuit poses challenges for both men and women. Towels are always too short, and surfers hate exposing their ‘nether regions’ to their neighbors on the beach. Our newest poncho is even better than the last – sized specifically for both men and women to feel covered and comfortable.”
Beach-goers and water enthusiasts can pick up the noble surf poncho for just $49.99.
