SHACC: The Line Up for October

Vintage Surfboard Collectors Club’s Annual Parking Lot Meet, Saturday, October 14, 7AM-12PM 

On Saturday, October 14, from 7 AM until 12 PM, the Vintage Surfboard Collectors Club will be hosting their annual SHACC parking lot meet. They’ll have vintage boards from every era, paper goods, skateboards, and other collectibles, who knows, you might just find that gem that’s been missing from your collection!

Exhibition and Book Signing for Robb Havassy’s “SURF STORY Vol.2,” Saturday, October 14, 6-9PM

Then later that same day, SHACC is hosting an exhibition and book signing for Robb Havassy’s “SURF STORY Vol.2,” featuring art, photography, and surf craft. The one-night show features art from “surfer creatives” from both books and will be available for purchase with many of them on hand to meet, sign your book and talk story and art. The event will also honor the “late” Greg Escalante, Juxtapoz co-founder, gallery owner, patron, friend and surfer. A videographer will be on hand all evening documenting stories and meaningful anecdotes in a video archive from his friends, collaborators and those he influenced and inspired. 6-9 PM, all ages, free event!

Surf 2 Skate Exhibit Opens Saturday, October 21, Opening Celebration from 6-9PM

This exhibit will cover the origins of skateboarding to sidewalk surfing and the early surf shop skate teams of the 1960s; the 70s and the Dog Town skating/surfing cross influences . We will be showcasing some never before seen early images of Rick Griffin and his “Bum Board” series of skate cartoons plus we’ll have some very special guests from both the surf and skate worlds. We’ll be featuring items from the private collections of Dale Smith (Sausage Man), CR Stecyk and Brent Lieberman (Dog Town Chroniclers), Nathan Pratt (Z-Boy), Stanton Hartsfield (co-author of Surf To Skate: Evolution to Revolution Vol 1), Art Brewer, Jeff Divine, Shirley Rogers, Jim O’Mahoney (Santa Barbara Surf Museum), Marc “Buggs” Arico, Tom “Wally” Inouye, Ron Church, Spencer Croul, Warren Bolster and Juice Magazine. First Annual SHACC Golf Surfari Tournament was a Huge Success

On September 18, 2017, we held our first Annual SHACC Golf Surfari Fundraiser at the San Juan Hills Golf Club.
