The Turtle Bay Foundation awarded $50,000 in grants and scholarships to a total of 36 nonprofit organizations and college-bound students on the North Shore December 10th.
The Foundation was established last year to raise money for support of deserving nonprofits groups and college students on the North Shore of Oahu.
“We applaud these nonprofits for their service in making the North Shore a better place to live, and these students for their commitment to academic achievement,” said Danna Holck, a Foundation board member and Vice President and General Manager of Turtle Bay Resort. “These grants and scholarships are just a start for the Turtle Bay Foundation. We are expanding our funding resources and will continue to support groups and causes that are important to the future of North Shore communities and residents.”
In addition to financial support from Turtle Bay Resort, Foundation funds are raised from individual and corporate donations and special events. For example, Oakley donated $3,000 from its Hackfest Hawaii Pro-Am golf tournament held last month at Turtle Bay Resort.
Turtle Bay Resort has annually supported dozens of worthy causes benefiting North Shore residents, such as providing supplies and books to schools, feeding needy families during the holidays, and providing in-kind donations of hotel rooms, golf play, and amenities for community fundraisers.
