Making Waves: Fighting to Protect the Clean Water Act

Surfrider's work to save Clean Water Act protections in Maui and across the nation continues.

Since 2011, Surfrider has been working with a coalition to stop the Lahaina Wastewater Reclamation Facility from injecting up to 5 million gallons of treated sewage per day into Maui’s groundwater.

As a result of this groundswell of support, the Maui County Council’s Committee recently recommended the withdrawal of this high-profile case from the U.S. Supreme Court.

While this is a huge step in the right direction, the full County Council must now agree to settle to save Clean Water Act protections across the nation.
