Plastic pollution. Ocean acidification. Species decline. Drilling. The world is waking up to the fact that our ocean is under siege. But solutions exist, and the second-annual Rising Tide Summit in San Pedro – the busiest port of the 5th largest economy in the world – is the place to discover them.
In its second year, the Rising Tide Summit convenes business executives, non-profit leaders and innovative entrepreneurs to explore the disruptive ideas that will move the needle for a healthy ocean. Supported by XPRIZE Foundation, Marisla Foundation, AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles and HDX Mix, the Summit will focus on engaging voters on legislation, scaling solutions to plastic pollution, turning the tide on coral bleaching, the power of surf therapy, ocean leadership in a time of divisive politics, and much more.
“We take oil out of the ocean and then return it in the form of toxic plastic.” said Shaun Tomson, professional surfer and former world champion, who will keynote the event. “It is time to stop this petro-plastic cycle of destruction and we can break the cycle starting right here in California.”
