Chrome Industries has teamed up with Cinelli Bicycles to form Frames For Good, a global give-back initiative in partnership with eBay for Charity.
Two of skateboarding’s greatest artists and human beings, Russ Pope and Todd Bratrud contributed their remarkable talents to the project. Each artist was given a bike frame and told to interpret it however they saw fit. You can see Russ’s frame here and Todd’s here.
100% of the sale of each frame is being given to a charity selected by each artist. Russ’s frame will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and Todd’s will benefit Keep A Breast. Bidding on the frames ends in six days on May 7th at 6pm EST.
RUSS POPE
Russ Pope has been doodling since he was a wee lad. While you were acing the test, he was drawing sketches on the perimeter of it. As a teen, art and skateboarding first collided when some of his art was asked to be used by skateboard companies. During his college-aged years, he ran SMA Skateboards, started Creature Skateboards and took art classes at night. He would later start Scarecrow Skateboards, get married, have two kids, hold down day jobs at companies like Duffs, Vans and Converse all while continuing to bring his doodles and paintings to the world. These days, you can still find Russ crushing a curb on his skateboard or riding his bike to Walden Pond for some inspiration and you can see his art all over the world. His drawings can be seen on all of the graphics of his skateboard company, Transportation Unit. Recently, Russ has had several solo shows in Japan, Europe and the US after painting a mural in 2015 to cover an entire wooden skatepark in the California desert…18,000 square feet in 18 hours.
TODD BRATRUD
Todd Bratrud is an illustrator and artist hailing from the great Midwest town of Crookston, Minnesota. Currently living in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Todd is the owner of Send Help Skateboards and has done graphics and illustrations for all of your favorite brands: Creature, Real, Consolidated, Enjoi, Birdhouse, Volcom, Flip and Black Label. His art helped to define The Skateboard Mag for the first several years it was in print and he has designed over half a dozen Nike SB colorways. Todd’s art has shown in galleries, skate shops, back alleys and coffee shops all around the world. Bright colors and big curves, Todd’s distinct style is instantly recognizable.
