Published: February 23, 2016 Press Release

The 18th annual T&C Surf “Go Big” kicked off at Pearlridge Center Court on Saturday, February 20 at noon and officially launched this year’s Mike Stewart Pipeline Invitational.

Once again, the pro bodyboarders were the starring attraction. Former world champions Mike Stewart, Jeff Hubbard, Ben Player, Guilherme Tamega and about 20 other top-ranked pros turned out for the event. A few hundred fans were amped and began lining up at 11 a.m. to ensure their place in the autograph line with bodyboards in tow. By noon the line packed into stanchions giving fans the chance to mingle with the sport’s best. We are very grateful to all of the professional bodyboarders who were present. Their appearance was definitely positive and gave the groms some inspiration to charge in the water.

Go Big started with a series of off the wall games that put bodyboarding product in the hands of the winners. The games were open to everyone, and were designed for fun in every age group. Competitors played limbo, stacked the wax, and faced the cookie along with other off the wall games. For two hours, the games continued, the audience laughed, and prizes were awarded to the top three in all events. 93.1 Da P’aina’s Bruddah Bryan served as emcee for the day while Mix Master B spun the turn tables. At Go Big everyone who plays is a winner and scores an awesome prize donated by the industries top brands.

Taking time out for fans, even when the waves are cranking at Pipe, is something that Hubbard considered an honor.

“Seeing the pure stoke and big smiles spread over everyone’s faces is really what the sport of bodyboarding is all about,” says Jeff Hubbard.

The stoke they get from fans in turn gives them that extra drive to win.

Once again, on behalf of T&C Surf, we offer our sincere gratitude for making T&C Surf’s “Go Big!” such a huge success.  We hope that this year’s event was mutually rewarding for you, and we hope to gain your support in future.
