Ventura, Ca (June 25, 2015) – The Roberts Surfboards East Coast Tour will take place July 8th – 20th. The tour begins in Maine at Wheels-N-Waves and wind down the coast ending at Aussie Island surf shop. This will be the 3rd annual east coast tour
Tour stops will include meet-n-greet with Robert Weiner, talk surfboard designs, swag and one-on-one custom ordering. And of course, lot’s of surf talk. A true surfer-shaper, Robert continues to push modern surfboard design by working closely with team riders and logging quality surf time. Several East Coast team riders including Tom Petriken, Clay Pollioni and Dallas Tolson will be joining Robert at selected tour stops.
Robert began shaping surfboards in his parents garage at age 12 which eventually lead to him working at McCrystal Surfboards in 1990 until he ventured on his own and started Roberts Surfboards in 1994. As the driving force behind Robert’s Surfboards designs was constant refinement from riders’ feedback and his own experiences (Robert surfs most days of the week and still competes in the NSSA) in order to push the limits of performance surfboard designs.
In 2011, Robert was awarded Shaper of the Year by Surfing Magazine. Shaper of the Year winners has included a who’s who list of top shapers in the world including Al Merrick, Gerry Lopez, and Matt Biolos. The selection process involved past winners, magazine staff and the buzz being discussed by surfers, both professional and general.
