Press release:
Quiksilver continues its strategy of opening its latest generation of stores in the most iconic boardsport locations worldwide. Following on from France, Portugal, Spain and Russia, it’s on the Gold Coast, at Coolangatta – the birthplace of surfing in Australia -where Quiksilver has chosen to open the 14th Boardriders in the world.
The ultimate location for surfers and skaters, Coolangatta offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, set right on the beach front, just a stone’s throw from the most famous surf spots on the Gold Coast.
On a 745 square meter site, Quiksilver has used its strong architectural style, beautiful, large open spaces that fill the store with light, combining the urban (concrete, brick, and metal) with the organic (wood, glass): Quiksilver’s mineral DNA. Natural wood embellishes the space dedicated to the Quiksilver collection with a beach and apparel range along with a technical surfing range. The ocean is reflected inside with white salt-washed effect wood for the Roxy space and beach, PopSurf and Fitness collections. The DC collection is presented in an urban street setting with its unmistakable skate wall (over 200 boards) and sneaker range.
Accessible through three separate entrances, the Boardriders was designed around two surfboard carousels stocking 500 boards, which are all for sale. The first carousel travels from top to bottom on the main façade, and the second is located inside, soaring across the top of the store. A photograph of the legendary Snapper Rocks surf spot has been painted by local artist Wade Lewis on onto one of the walls of the Boardriders.
The Boardriders is also a welcoming place to be:
– Its “28 Cooly” bar is great for a relaxing break overlooking the ocean
– Its lounge area offers a sofa and self-service computers with free WiFi
– Its Barber Shop next door provides the pleasure of a traditional shave or a haircut in a real barber’s chair
– Its stage hosts local bands on weekend evenings
With a 70 square meter terrace and a 130 square meter bar next to the shop, the “28 Cooly” offers a menu of fresh and organic products: toast, coffee, muesli and smoothies for early birds, and sandwiches, snacks, fresh fruit juices, beer and wine for lunch and dinner.
The Boardriders Coolangatta is a unique place to be, both for its architecture and layout as well as for its exceptional location. It’s that ideal place to hang out, offering originality and authenticity, combining all of the spirit of boardsports, art, and the most advanced and innovative products from the Quiksilver, Roxy and DC brands along with other complementary technical brands.
