PacSun raises guidance, juniors strong

Company-wide same-store sales fell 7.4 percent in January, but Pacific Sunwear raised its fourth quarter earnings per share guidance to 13 to 16 cents per share, up from the 11 to 14 cents forecast in December.

PacSun stores: down 1.7 percent

Demo stores: down 37.9 percent

Total same-store sales: down 7.4 percent

Best regions: Texas, New England, Upper Midwest

Demo stores: down 37.9 percent

Total same-store sales: down 7.4 percent

Best regions: Texas, New England, Upper Midwest

Worst regions: Desert Southwest, Southern California, Florida

Apparel comps: up 13 percent

Juniors: up in the low 20s, driven by tops, dresses, and Bullhead denim.

Mens: up mid single digits, driven by tops and denim

Accessories: down high teens

Footwear: down high 30s

PacSun stores: up 2.1 percent

Demo: down 31 percent

Total: down 2.2 percent

Fiscal 2007 same-store sales

PacSun stores: up 3.4 percent

Demo: down 19.6 percent

Total: up 0.7 percent
