Today, our upgraded Web site debuts. The biggest change is that we now have a real content management system, which means readers can search our database for past stories. There’s a search function on the top right of each page and you can also search the archive by categories on the left.

The other big change is that the new site allows me to post stories and update the site in a matter of seconds. Previously, it took 45 minutes to upload stories via FTP, so those annoying error messages some of you experienced if you clicked on a story while it was loading should not be a problem anymore.

We transferred the 500-plus stories from the old system to the new by hand (the joys of owning a small business!), and it gave us a chance to work some of the kinks out. Let us know what you think or if you come across any issues.

Thanks to the team at Taylor Digital for implementing the system for us. We have a lot of stories and photos, so it turned into quite a project for them.

We’ll have some other exciting upgrades coming in a couple weeks as well so stay tuned.
