Black Friday promotions roundup at brand stores, customers and competitors

I braved the crowds at South Coast Plaza Friday to see just how promotional retailers were on the day after Thanksgiving.

I also stopped by industry stores – Roxy, Quiksilver, Beachworks (owned by Billabong) - and industry customers and competitors to see what the environment was like. Below, I list the sales I saw at these stores.

Overall, a National Retail Federation survey found that more people shopped during the weekend, but they spent less.

The NRF said 195 million shoppers visited stores and websites over Black Friday weekend, up from 172 million last year.
