Sales at specialty stores declined 6% in dollars in the August-November period.

The clear winners again are online retailers, which saw sales rise 21% in dollars during this period and accounted for 20% of all equipment sales, the SIA said.

Overall, snow sales during the period were nearly even with last year and retailers appear to be working through inventory. Inventories were 5% lower in units and 3% lower in dollars than the same period last year.
