PRESS RELEASE:

In our efforts to get yet another final, final approval on the Playa del Norte project in San Clemente, we are excited to report the support of much of the San Clemente surf community.

Playa del NorteThe ad displayed at left ran in February in the San Clemente Times.

The ad carried the endorsement of 34 surf community leaders urging San Clemente residents to vote “Yes” on Measure A on Tuesday, March 8.

Surf leaders lending their name to the cause include Bob Mignogna, Jim Kempton, Steve and Debee Pezman, Greg Noll, Barry Berg, Kirk Pressley, Toby Bost, Francois Carrete, Abe and Doc Paskowitz, Rick Petri and many, many more.

A “Yes” vote means that the proposal by Shaheen and Linda Sadeghi’s LAB Holding for San Clemente’s North Beach, called Playa del Norte and pictured here in renderings from the proposal, can proceed.

The proposed North Beach project retains the relaxed and open quality of the neighborhood by creating a public garden and view terrace at the core of the project oriented towards the ocean.

Surrounding this central plaza focal point are a series of shops in 1-2 story buildings, separated from each other with intimate courts and smaller scale gardens.  In addition to the shops at this plaza level, the project also includes beach level shops and cafes creating an active boardwalk along Ave. Estacion.  This boardwalk will serve as an extension of the newly constructed Coastal Trail through the project site to El Camino Real.

Across El Camino Real at the Marblehead Site, the project includes a small number of shops and an ocean view restaurant that will be at grade with Pico Park currently under construction.  These shops will surround a plaza space that will serve as an extension of the public park.   These park buildings and expansive garden sit atop a hidden parking structure that will provide additional parking for the North Beach project.

About LAB Holding

We are committed to building a quality project that captures the original vision of Ole Hanson and the essence of San Clemente. To that end we have partnered with Mr. Henry Lenny whose reputation for being a Spanish Colonial Revival expert and ongoing relationship with the City of San Clemente forms a perfect working partnership.

Little American Business (LAB Holding) has experience partnering with cities on redevelopment challenges ranging from single buildings to entire districts. For example, the mixed use SoBeCa neighborhood in Costa Mesa included land assembly, master planning and rezoning; much like North Beach. Little American Business (LAB Holding) spent years of collaborative efforts with city managers, city council members, planning departments, traffic consultants, local stakeholders, and fellow business residents.
