The Agenda Trade Show is taking a big step and moving its January West Coast show to the Long Beach Convention Center starting in 2012.
Â
This year in January, Agenda was held in Anaheim at the Marriott Hotel.
Â
I asked Agenda President Aaron Levant some questions about the move.
Â
While Agenda will be in Long Beach for the January West Coast show moving forward, the summer show will remain in Huntington Beach coinciding with the U.S. Open of Surfing.
Â
Why Long Beach?
Because its centrally located between Los Angeles and Orange County, it has good prices on hotel rooms and lots of great venues to host side events. But most importantly, lots of space for the show itself.
Â
How did Anaheim work out?
Anaheim was great, one of our best shows ever, but the space was not available on the dates we needed it for several more years and it was not big enough for our show going forward.
Â
Will the show become more expensive if it’s in a convention center? Will all the union fees that drove everyone crazy in San Diego be the same there?Â
NO, the Long Beach Convention Center is a non-union venue.
Â
Will you add more brands to the show? Will the show be bigger than it was in Anaheim? What square footage will you have in Long Beach?
Yes, we will add more brands to the show. Right now we have lots of amazing brands that we want to be in Agenda but just no space for them. The space in Long Beach will allow us to more than double the size of our last show in Anaheim.
Â
Do you consider this move a milestone for Agenda?Â
Yes, this is definitely a milestone for us. We will finally have enough room to do the things we have always wanted to do, and accommodate all the different brand initiatives and sections.
