Atlantic City on the Trade Show Map after Successful AOB Expo Launch

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.—The Action Outdoor & Bike Expo’s kick-off event welcomed snow, skate, surf, outdoor and bike retailers, brands and reps to Atlantic City, August 22–23. With 85 exhibitors representing more than 115 brands across 120 booths, this first-time business-to-business trade show drew retail attendees from up and down the east coast.

“The inaugural Action Outdoor & Bike Expo was a great success,” remarks Jay Driscoll, Action Outdoor & Bike publisher and director.

“We exceeded expectations for this first-time event. Our unique mix of products from the action sports, outdoor and bike markets gave retailers the opportunity to add new product lines to their store, while still meeting with their current vendors. We’re excited for 2013 and are looking forward to four great events next year.”

Throughout the course of the show, parent company National Business Media gave away an array of prizes to randomly drawn attendees. Magretha Palepale of Uller’s Ski & Board Shop and Scott Shellenberger of Pocono Whitewater each scored a $100 gas card.

Keith Trepel of Roy’s Bike Shop walked away with a three-day/two-night stay at the Sheraton Atlantic City, and Kathryn Harrignton-Hughes of Bodacious Bicycles LLC took home the grand prize—a trip for two to Nassau, Bahamas.

“The Action Outdoor & Bike Expo was a tremendous leap forward for us!” reports Mike Freihofer, show partner and consultant.

“With retailers coming from beyond the scope that the Action Expo normally drew from, I believe that we’ve put Atlantic City on the map as an extremely viable, legitimate action sports trade show destination. It exceeded my hopes in every way and has laid down a new standard of what can be accomplished here in Atlantic City.”

The Action Outdoor & Bike Expo will host a full lineup of trade shows in 2013, beginning Jan. 16–17 in Atlantic City, followed by Feb. 6–7 in Los Angeles. The event will continue July 10–11 in L.A. and finish out the season back in A.C. Aug. 21–22.
