In what has become a heart-warming winter tradition for the area, LBI-based surf and outdoor lifestyle based apparel company, Jetty with the Tide Table Restaurant Group and their local partners are preparing for the 5th Annual Arctic Outreach, a one-day fundraiser on the property of Mud City Crab House on Bay Avenue in Stafford on February 23.
This “Community Clambake of Arctic Proportions” will benefit Jetty’s non-profit arm, the Jetty Rock Foundation.
For one day, the site of Mud City Crab House will be transformed into a wintery wonder of cozy tents and fire pits with a stage featuring live bands, craft beers, spiked hot beverages, cider, a hot chocolate igloo, Little Eskimo activities, auctions and more. Last year, over 1,000 people braved the elements for a day of community. The idea is to bring everyone out of their homes and together during the cold winter.
The mission of the Jetty Rock Foundation is to protect our oceans and waterways, and support those who have built their lives around them. The funds raised through Jetty Rock Foundation initiatives and events are distributed among different categories. 50% of funds go toward environmental initiatives such as the Oyster Recycling Program, 30% of funds go directly to those who make their lives around water (which includes medical needs and education), and the remaining 20% of funds go directly toward disaster relief efforts. As a certified B Corporation, Jetty and the Jetty Rock Foundation are dedicated to environmental stewardship.
“We have worked with the Jetty Rock Foundation since day one and together we’ve really helped to build up an incredible community of families that is able to lean on one another when we need it,” says Melanie Magaziner of the Tide Table Group, which operates Mud City Crab House as well as the Old Causeway, Black Whale, Parker’s Garage, Ship Bottom Shellfish, and Bird & Betty’s.
“Our summer season is a crazy blur of back-to-back events. But the winter gets so long here and people tend to hibernate. This is a chance for everyone to come out for fantastic food and drink donated by locals to raise money for the people and causes so close to our hearts.”
