Thrill One Sports and Entertainment is bringing action sports competition back with the launch of Nitro World Games Brisbane. Organizers have announced the initial names in what will be a truly global field, as more than 60 elite athletes from five continents will square off on October 23-24 with more to be announced, already making Nitro World Games the biggest action sports event of the year.
The action sports community leapt at the news:Â Nitro World Games social content quickly scored 22M Impressions on its proprietary channels alone. Then the on sale that followed smashed expectations, with new ticket packages added in less than 24-hours to meet fan demand.
Riding this wave of momentum, the world’s largest independent action sports organization now looks further ahead, kicking off a host city procurement program, in partnership with The Sports Consultancy, to secure future sites for the premier action sports competition.
Through this process, Thrill One will appoint a host city partner for 2022 and 2023, with whom they will co-create a bespoke event that brings together world-class athletes, massive ramp setups (the largest used in competition) and ground-breaking formats, to uniquely showcase the host destination and inspire the next generation of stars.
Hosts will also enjoy the unique support of Thrill One Media, the world’s largest independent action sports media brand. Thrill One Media is a full-service media house which has produced the broadcast for Nitro World Games since its inception, with commentary by some of the biggest names in action sports history including Travis Pastrana, Tony Hawk and Todd Richards.
Nitro World Games is the world’s leading action sports competition, featuring the best international athletes in freestyle motocross (FMX), BMX, skateboarding and scooter. 2021 will see this proven event concept held outside of the U.S. for the first time, with the world’s top talent descending on Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.
Initial confirmed competitors for 2021 include Australian dual threat Ryan Williams, already a two-time Nitro World Games winner in both BMX and scooter, a three-time X Games gold medalist and a global social media influencer with over three million engaged followers, fellow Aussie Jackson Strong, an FMX icon as shown by his 13 X Games medals, the USA’s Elliot Sloan, an innovative skateboarding force who has taken home three Nitro World Games trophies in addition to eleven X Games medals and the UK’s Jordan Clark, three-time ISA scooter champion.
With BMX and skateboarding set to make their highly anticipated Olympic debut, several Nitro World Games athletes are also hoping to shine in Tokyo this summer. Looking further ahead, Nitro World Games is planning to add street skate beginning in 2022, which will expand and diversify the event even more, including opening the competition to more female athletes.
In addition to elevating action sports through progressive competition, Thrill One Sports & Entertainment is committed to supporting the next generation of athletes. Youth initiatives such as Hot Wheels Nitro Junior Games and Hot Wheels Superchargers Fueled by Nitro Circus have increased kids’ access to action sports with events that offer young enthusiasts an opportunity to hone their skills, all in a fun and positive environment.
