Climate Neutral Certified is the leading consumer label designating carbon neutrality.
Published: April 28, 2021 Press Release

Activewear brand Vuori is deeply committed to minimizing its impact on the environment and has successfully become Climate Neutral Certified for the second straight year. Climate Neutral Certified is the leading consumer label designating carbon neutrality. It is carried by brands that have voluntarily stepped up to take responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions generated in the production, operations, and shipping of their goods and services.

Brands achieve Climate Neutral Certified status by measuring their 2020 greenhouse gas emissions footprint, purchasing carbon credits to offset that footprint, and implementing plans to reduce emissions this year and beyond.

Through their goals on materials and sustainability, Vuori believes that they can contribute to being happier on a healthy planet. The path towards a sustainable future is a complex and ever-changing terrain that Vuori continues to invest in and their dynamic program aimed to protect the environment includes:

  • Recycled + Organic Materials: Vuori is committed to using 80% sustainable materials in their men’s and women’s products by 2022. This year, 50% of their products are made with high-quality sustainable materials: REPREVE polyester made from recycled plastic bottles, ECONYL nylon made from recycled nylon fishing nets and other nylon waste, and Certified organic cotton, grown in clean, healthy soil. In addition, Vuori also works with a number of partners to certify their materials like Bluesign, Oeko-Tex, Unifi & U Trust Recycle Verification and California’s Prop 65.
  • Climate Neutral: Through their partnership with Climate Neutral, Vuori cancels 100% of their direct and indirect carbon emissions from their business and manufacturing by funding projects that help combat global warming. From restoring degraded rainforests to supporting clean energy, these projects recapture Vuori’s carbon emissions towards a healthier environment. In adherence with Climate Neutral’s carbon emission offset project standards, Vuori has offset its carbon footprint 100% by contributing to the following initiatives: the Pacaja REDD+ Project to stop deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest and the Kamuthi Solar Power Project to install solar power equipment in parts of India.
  • Waste Reduction: In 2020, Vuori worked to start eliminating the majority of their plastic garment bags and their goal is to save over 1.2 million bags in 2021 from landfill. For styles that require packaging, the brand is introducing a new garment bag made from recycled materials. Through a partnership with Cleanhub, Vuori is offsetting their remaining plastic footprint by proudly investing in projects that keep our oceans clean, empower coastal communities, and divert plastic from entering the ocean. By 2022, the brand plans to eliminate 80% of plastics from their shipping and supply chain, further investing in a cleaner future.
